I do most of my shopping online and on the whole, have been very pleased with the option of doing so.
On 5/9 I placed on order for a sunhat at Avenue 26.
I was thrilled. They had the hat I wanted at a great price.
I had never dealt with them before, but did opt in for the Yahoo merchant rating service on the order, thinking if they were linked to a merchant rating service, all should go well.
On 5/11, received an email from "Gary" that the order had shipped and to expect it w/in 4-6 business days.
I was a little concerned because the link to "track my order" was invalid. That's never happened in all the years I've dealt with companies online, but human error does ocur, so I waited the suggested delivery time frame.
After the 6th business day, and no merchandise, I emailed the company asking for some form of shipping confirmation or delivery confirmaiton info.
No reponse.
I checked my credit card and I was billed, the billing was under "Gary****" rather than Avenue 26, and that was odd...but, I support small businesses.
A few days later, no merch, so I called and got an answering machine and left a message.
No response. I emailed to follow up. No response. I called one more time and got the machine. I left a message to let them know if I did not receive some contact and info, I would contact my credit card company for recourse. No response.
On 5/23, the Yahoo rate merchant email came in and I tried to access the link and it went to an invalid page.
Another purchase I'd made with another company who participated in the rate merchant feature and received a later "rate merchant" email worked just fine.
5/26, no merchandise, no contact from the company.
I finally called my credit card company today and had them refund my money.
Bad business behaviors on the people (I suspect PERSON) who runs this business. There is no excuse not to return emails or phone calls. Next time, I will do my homework before I go with a new/too-small company.
Very disappointed.
