**DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY** TO COME INTO YOUR HOUSE OR BUSINESS
The air conditioning in our house went out, so I called our home warranty company, First American, and paid $75 for service visit. Our work order was assigned to E & A MECHANICAL INCORPORATED. Our house has multiple air conditioning units; we identified we are having issues with several of them. When the contractor came to our house, I started by taking him to our master bedroom as we can't seem to get the air below 80 degrees. He walked over to 2 air conditioning vents and said in a demeaning tone "your vents are closed! How do you expect to cool this room with your vents closed? That's your problem" While the vents were closed, the room was much cooler up to a week before, easily getting down to the low 70s. I didn't think this was the issue, but wasn't sure if my wife closed them & was in the middle of work, so I proceeded to take him to the second room. That's when he told me our warranty only covers the inspection of 1 unit, and if I wanted him to look at other units, I would have to pay him directly $75 for each one, unless he does the work to fix them, which I will have to pay for directly to him with a check. I just paid $75 for this guy to tell me our vents were closed? That's it?? Now I have to pay him another $75 to look at each other room in our house?? As this was the first time using our warranty, I assumed he knew what we was talking about in telling me the other rooms weren't covered in my warranty, and with the hot weather upon us, we needed it to get fixed, so I told him to look at the other units. He said he can fix the second one for $440 and the third one for about $3,500. I wrote him a $440 check to fix the second one, and (fortunately) he didn't have the parts to fix the 3rd one. I called our warranty company a few days later as I began to feel ripped off for paying $75 to be told our vents were closed, and learned THEY WOULD HAVE COVERED ALL OF THE WORK FOR ONE $75 SERVICE FEE AND THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME OF THAT, AND/OR ALLOWED ME TO RESCHEDULE WITH ALL UNITS ON MY WORK ORDER. At the very least, he should have applied his "1 inspection" to the work he actually did, instead of applying it to looking at my vents for 10 seconds, then charging me $440 to fix a problem in the next room. I definitely feel like I was taken advantage of by this contractor. I'm out $75 for our master bedroom service fee as he did absolutely nothing and the room still won't get cooler than 80 degrees; I'm out $440 for a service that would have been completely covered by the warranty, and I would have been out another $3,500 if he had the parts for our 3rd unit. Our warranty company called E & A MECHANICAL management to complain and to request a reimbursement from them, and they stated that because the service was rendered, they stand behind their contractor's decision and will not reimburse me. ****BUYER BEWARE**** DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. THEY CLEARLY TOLD ME MY WARRANTY DOESN’T COVER THE WORK THEY CHARGED ME FOR WHEN IT WOULD HAVE COVERED ALL OF IT. THERE ARE TOO MANY HONEST COMPANIES OUT THERE TO CHOOSE FROM.
