Review 1/24/2008
This company called me unsolicited from a blocked number, offering to lower the interest on my credit card debt and claiming they could improve my credit rating by 43%. This company called me on monday. This company is unaffiliated with the NFCC, does not list any licenses of any kind. The privacy policy on their website is atrocious for its lack of clarity. My reasonable questions were largely deflected and went without clear answers. This company charges a fee of approximately $239 for their services. When I asked the customer service rep if the company had a website, she said no. They do. It is located at www.eglobalcardservices.com When I asked the person who called me what company she worked for, she said "E Global" and didn't state the full name of the company. When I talked to a senior debt consolidation specialist, he stated that he worked for CMG Debt Consolidation. The prepared contract they wrote for me has their correct name and address and the name of another company called LDF Service Inc. This company failed to prove to me that they were a legitimate business. They kept dodging my simple questions and made me feel like I was wrong for asking them. They also collected information from me by phone including my SSN, and Capital One credit card account number. They attempted to get my bank account number, but I told them I wasn't comfortable giving that over the phone. Given the shady behavior of their employees in interacting with me via the telephone, I sincerely doubt that they live up to what they say they can do for people. Also, given their vague privacy policy, I can't be certain that my personal information is safe with them. They made no effort to have a verbal privacy disclaimer at all. I contacted this company's senior debt consolidation rep via email regarding all my concerns and he has yet to address any of them. He replied to my email with one sentence, "Thanks for the information." Which is creepy. The last thing I need is to have my identity stolen. I told Capital One to block all incoming charges until further notice. I have flagged my credit reports and added my number to the do not call registry. I've also blocked anonymous calls to my phone. If I get billed by this company I will be filing a complaint. The only good thing this company did was that they did email me a copy of my contract when I asked. The fact that they couldn't respond appropriately to my concerns just tells me that they don't want to say something to acknowledge all that they've done wrong so far. Please, if you receive and anonymous call from a debt consolidation company, just hang up and go to www.nfcc.org If you're actually in debt and need help, the NFCC is your best bet. And of course common sense: Don't give any personal info such as account numbers, your SSN or any other private information via the phone unless you know who you're interacting with.
