WARNING: Shady Business Practices
|
Not sure if NRG is just taking advantage of female customers or if it is equal opportunity scamming. I have had a few issues with my Lennox AC unit, installed in May 2020, not blowing cool air. First Adam/NRG said it was a pinhole leak & poured a liquid into seal the hole. This week, the same issue started happening again. The unit was on, but not blowing cool air. The first issue found was a burnt wire that Adam fixed. However, I never saw the burnt wire and I am now questioning if the video Adam showed me was even from my house. Next, Adam said it was the TXV valve & it needed to be replaced. Adam/NRG said the part was under warranty, but labor would not be & were going to charge $2,000. I declined the service from NRG & contacted another company who came out later that same day. This new company said they highly doubted it was the TXV valve. The new company said the original pinhole leak and burnt wire was most likely caused by NRG. When I started to question Adam/NRG about the cost and getting different opinions Adam/NRG said the manufacturer's warranty would be voided if another company worked on it. NRG also said that if they went out of business my warranty would not be honored by anyone else. I have found this to be not true. I am reporting them to BBB, Lennox, every review site I can find, and the CSLB licensing board for the shady business practice of selling customers repairs they do not need as well as scaring customers into thinking they are not allowed to go to another company for repairs. I will never use NRG again and I am going to make sure everyone knows what a dishonest company they are.
