My husband and I "won" a cruise at a Home Show in Miami Beach. We attended the company's time sharing exhibit to collect our prize. We then went through all the hoops of sending a $100.00 deposit for taxes and port fees and picking dates and waiting for them to contact us. When we finally were contacted to set up our cruise they told us that taxes were $219.68 per person and with the upgrade we requested the total amount would be $639.36. They told me the departure date would be May 13, 2013 on the Carnival Cruise Ship Victory. I questioned why the cost was so high and they told me that was how much it was without any further explanation. I cross referenced this with Carnival Cruise and found that for two people the port fees, government fees and taxes were approximately $180.00. I called Spirit Incentives back and asked them why the taxes were so high and if they would send me a breakdown. They refused and simply stated that if I was unhappy with the price to cancel. I then asked for a manager, after a long wait I was told one was not available. I then went online to request a refund of my $100.00 deposit. I would love for Spirit Incentives to honor the cruise I won. I have no problem paying the taxes which are actually around $180 and $200 for the upgraded room. I know that this will probably not happen so I would simply like to report this in the hopes it will save someone the trouble of dealing with this company.
